These would be a great thing to set up for the Trunk or Treat as well. These look very nice! Are they just painted cardboard?

mostly painted cardboard, yes.  There are some wood pieces in the back that help it stay rigid and the mummy is done on butcher paper, then glued onto the pre-painted cardboard.  The ghost (which I think will be my fave when it's done) will be done the same way.
