What is a keener? And why are you calling me names? That's not nice. Wink

A keener is someone who is keen to get something done.  It's not a mean names, unless you want it to be.  I did not intend it to be mean (kinda. Wink Tongue )

Yay! I'm first. Because Jexxican was really on top of things!

I made sure to get it today by going and picking it up from the office before class. Which meant carrying it around to my class and back. It was torment. Tongue But I needed to make sure that I could get it today. So, I opened it up on the bus on my way home.

This is what I saw!

I had to control myself from making high pitched noises of joy. (There were other people riding back, I was trying to be considerate).

Then I walked back to my apartment and properly opened my package. Jexxican, you seriously made the cutest bowl/basket/pot...I don't know what to call it. But I love it.

Edit: I found a super cute post card in the bottom of my box! This bowl is perfect for my knitting! I always have a problem with my yarn balls rolling around! <3

See:

I'm just so excited! This fiber is some of the loveliest I've ever had. I really enjoyed getting to know Jexxican over the course of this swap. She helped make my first ever swap amazing. Cheesy

Oh yes, Breabadair, I'm glad you enjoyed your first swap as well because I know I sure did! I RECEIVED TODAY! WOOOOOOOO! Sorry, I'm really not a woo-girl but looky what I got:

Merino/silk from my favorite Etsy shop/Phat Fiber contributor, a knit washcloth which I always need more of, and a DIZ! I got a DIZ! And not, just any diz, oh no, the diz that I had pinned. I don't have it pinned anymore because I GOT IT! I like to erase pins that I receive. It makes sense to me. I've been wanting to try using a diz to remove fiber from my carder and now I have a super sweet diz so I may have to get my carder back out soon... After Halloween... and a couple other things... Ah! So much to do first! But it's still pretty so I think I can wait.
Thank you thank you thank you Breabadair

Oh, and thanks for all the nice words about my package to her everyone, I really enjoyed make and sending that.

I'm glad you liked it. While perusing your pinterest page that Diz stood out to me. I had just discovered Spin Culture from the Phat Fiber september box. I knew you had to have that. I hope it works well for you!

I recieved from Rodelphia today!  I was very surprised at how quickly it arrived.

She sent some nice black wool and some to die for soft alpaca from a farm in her area that she dyed in orange and purple and green.  (Love that!)  She also made me a cute orange drop spindle and a hand carved mustache stamp.  Her first tray at stamp carving and I think it is super cute!

Thank you so much Rodelphia!  I hope you like your package as much as I like mine!

Rhymes, that fiber looks great! I love ones with rich colors. Smiley

I received my package from Eclectic Dreamer today!

I love the ball with all the colors! I saw a lucet (the wooden thing) for the first time a couple weeks ago at Rhinebeck Sheep and Wool, so I know that's for making cords. I have to ask, what's the braid with beads for?

I braided the wool so you can see the colors better (even if they're a bit washed out from my flash). Smiley

Thanks!!!

Perfect Pacakge!  I'd wear the braid as a necklace.  I just learned what a lucet was this summer.. i could NOT for the life of me figure out wow to use it, even with human instruction right there.  And then not even with the book..... They are cool though, and mmake pretty cords!

Actually, I think the "braid with beads" might be large enough to use as a head band. But it's a wrist distaff. You wrap the roving around the hanging part, the beads help keep it held on a bit, and the loop part goes around your wrist. If you go to  youtube, you'll find videos of them "in action". myself, I'd probably also loop the working end of the roving through the wrist loop so it's held a little out of the way.

The blue & white bit was dyed using just kool aid. There was a "roll into a ball and dip the sides in the dye" thing I wanted to try (didn't like it much; won't do again), and the colorful one was kool aid also, but just before tossing it in the oven I grabbed the blue food coloring from my cupboard and put a couple drops across the black cherry/blue something edges; I suspect that's how I got the dark purple. I'd love to see what it looks like spun up!

Ahhh, thanks for the explanation on the wrist distaff. It makes much more sense now!

I also have to say that grabbing the blue food coloring was a stroke of genius, it's my favorite part! For some reason I've been really into purples recently, at least when it comes to anything fiber related.

I used Wilton's food coloring to dye the alpaca that I sent. Everything has always turned out great with really bright colors. I got the alpaca from a booth at a craft fair this summer from this farm --> http://www.dunrovingfarm.com/. Its just one of the MANY farms we have around here (which is super awesome Cheesy).
Here is everything I received from RhymeswOrange, I love it all! This one is probably one of the prettiest rovings I've ever seen...and its mine! lol.

The other roving is super soft, I'm excited to spin it. I think I'll make something for the baby with it! Smiley

I also got a great bag to carry my projects around in, and its full of pockets to stash stuff in.

Obligatory cat helping picture. Cheesy

Thanks for everything!!

That is some gorgeous roving!

I'm working on it! I've spun .6 oz so far. It started off looking quite patriotic, but now I've gotten to a section with some orange in it. Smiley

get your pintrest and wist buttons ready!  I have the BEST "small" item ever!! Both me and my daughter LOVE it!  She keeps hugging it!  I've decided to name him Marshall Cheesy

Belladune also sent me some wonderful fiber (the whole paper bag was FULL) a natural grey fiber that was hand pulled (!) I can't wait to spin it.  I'm thinking a heavy lace weight for a shawl Cheesy  she also sent a bunch of small fiber samples I'm thinking about carding into a "kitchen sink" batt

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!

Love that package from Belladune. and that roving from RhymeswithOrange is AMAZING. I've heard of a lucet and distaff but never seen any in person. Interesting, new things to learn about someday. On that note, when's the next fiber swap?

Lol!  It's barely over!  But I'm not sure if I'll be able to run one right away.  I'd have to see what's happening in the next few weeks.

The first roving is one I purchased from Sara's Texture Crafts on the web. She is out of the UK but shipping has been quick and her rovings are affordable.  Her stuff is always wonderful.  Love doing business with her.  I have no affiliation with her business other than a satisfied customer.

The second is one I dyed with wilton's cake coloring.

So glad you like your package Rodelphia!

Thanks! I was going to ask this afternoon when I post a pic of what I've spun up so far. I like it even more in yarn form. Smiley

EDIT: pictures! Not the best, my table currently has stuff drying on it so I can't get out my lightbox. But, here's the first spindleful of yarn I've spun!

Here's what I received from Sarahj2001:

The sheep is going to be made into an ornament. I love the colors of the wool! It's currently hanging to dry, as the package got damp in shipping and everything inside was a bit damp.

And somebody else posted a "Kitty Helping" pic, so here's mine!

Sassy was all over that wool (So Indigo_Roses: if you notice one end is floofier than the other: that's why).
