on the "boyish" log cabin blocks for Eclectic Dreamer:

If I am not getting them in the correct style please do let me know.  I have only done two quilts and they were not "boyish" in theme or color, but I am trying to think boyish. I will not be upset or up off if you tell me I am getting it wrong.

We learn by taking advice and help from people that have done things before us. Adding our own little twist to it and growing. So if I am missing the mark on any of the blocks for any of you please do let me know what I can do to fix it.

well and wonderment

carolmb--the baby boy blocks are adorable!!

I am sending my test and mistake blocks to  everyone...I have a whole bag of orphan blocks that I will either patch together or donate to the local quilt charity (they raise money for mission work in Africa)...it is amazing what the Mennonite women can do with orphan blocks!

I love what I am seeing so far.  These are really cool and I am getting a better idea of what I need to do to make the requested blocks.  I have sorted my scraps Whew!  That was a chore.  I even cut a few pieces of background fabric last nigth.  I'll be able to get started on the blocks soon... I hope.

I received some fabulous holiday charms in a swap and was not sure what to do with them...the blocks I did for donniesgirl were so easy that I think I might make myself a table runner using them!  Since the charms are only 5 inches, I am guessing that I will need to deduct 2 inches to make the square underneath...I get easily sidetracked in this swap--so many lovely block patterns! Cheesy

I didn't get any sewing done last night, but I did work on cleaning and organizing my studio for four and a half hours. I never did find the fabric I was looking for (a lovely grey for the background of my pinwheel block) but I did find a bunch of other stuff that I thought I'd lost!
I've made all of my fabric selections (other than that dang grey) and just have to sew the circles onto the squares and then my first group of blocks will be done!

I dream of a house covered with your art, and would love a personal swap. Pm me if you'd like to spread the crafty love! I also need blue fabric scraps for a scrap quilt!

Yes, I know I am jumping all over the place, I wanted to try and at least get one done for each person, yet I found myself returning time and time again to the pinwheel because it frustrated me so. Yet that is how I learn by returning to something I have problems with and keeping at till I find a way that clicks for me.

Another note on the pinwheels, and this I am not at all sure, if I turned my templet around when I was making it, but as noted on the first two, they turned backwards from the images on the website. I had somehow gotten the trap. piece backward when I was marking it, so when i placed it on my fabric it was turned the wrong way. I had to lay it the wrong way according to my marking in order to get the rest to turn the direction of the website.

Love them!  I am stalking the blocks you all are making so I can get some fabrics to make some of my own as well.  It is the perfect excuse to buy some gnome & sock monkey fabric I've been eyeing lol.

The blocks added today are wonderful.

Homerof2: The bright colors are fab.

Sloth003: So cheerful

I am currently working on the first block for Sloth, hoping to have it finished tomorrow, then I shall have at least one for everyone in my group done.

Hoping they are what wished for
