I learned how to properly do viking knit this weekend and I am pretty darn proud of myself.  In my city, we have had a crafting festival for 25 years, twice a year, called the Creativ Festival.  It features a  3-day floorshow for product and product demonstration, and about 5 days of hands on workshops you can sign up for.  I signed up for as many as I could fit in, and one of them was a 3 hour viking knit workshop.  I learned the basics and finished this bracelet the other day.

It's almost like magic, how a pretty manky looking nest of wire on the mandrel, can end up looking so nice after being drawn through the drawplate!

That looks great. Also, thanks for letting me know about the Creativ Festival. I live about 4 hours' drive from you (central NYState) and would like to participate in the next one. I notice you said twice a year -- did the announce the dates for the next one? Thanks very much.

Thank you - this was on my to do list for awhile, but I needed to see in person how to get it started, and it went a lot quicker than I thought and easier than I thought.  I am so happy I did it and now have some ideas on how to incorporate this into some Christmas ornaments too.

Yes, they have one around Easter weekend, in Mississauga.  Here is the linkity:

The Spring show is always smaller than the Fall one.  You can take a look to see what they offered in the 2012 Spring and Fall shows, but just an FYI, the Spring floor show is smaller, and there are less workshops.  But I think the workshops are free for the Spring show!

I think it's ugly, and wouldn't want you to be embarrassed to wear it in public.  Just send it my way instead!  Just kidding of course, I love this!
