I bought some similar spanky pants from taget but they were to loose so I have to sew them a little tighter tomorrow.  But good luck with the paterns.  I'll look to see if I can find a patern or two.

are you going to bark all day little doggie, or are you going to bite?  <FrankliN> Hello, I am Mrs. DoughtFranklin.  Watch me loose my false teeth and set my fake bosoms on fire.

Well, I made the pants a while ago, but have yet to post because they need to be redone. Our sewing room was insane for about two days while i was making my alterations to the original pattern. Amazingly enough, after cutting probably 6 inches off the top part (I'm not a fan of having pants up around my neck), THEY WERE STILL TOO LONG!!! So I have to rip the waistband off, cut some more, and resew, then I will have pictures for all to enjoy.

EvilDeadFan: (off topic... I LOVE Evil Dead, film school nerd that I am) I saw spanky pants at Target, too, that i really liked, but they had stupid words across the butt like "hang ten" and "cowabunga." If I could have figured out how to scrape the letters off, I would have gone for it.

Lorah: Not to be too terribly snippy, but I asked if anyone knew about a pattern because that's what we do here. We help each other out. I know I could have very easily looked myself, but before spending forever doing that, I thought I'd ask if anyone had recommendations for patterns they knew and had success with or just knew about in passing.

Anyway, as soon as I take my last final my summer of crafting can fully begin and pictures will be up in no time.

All right, I know everyone (ha!) has been waiting for ever to see the finished spanky pants product. Well, guess what, folks... THEY'RE DONE!!! Without further ado, here they are.

The front...

The back...

So what does everyone think? Please be nice, my evil mother told me I should have photoshopped my butt to make it smaller. The shorts are kind of floppy in the butt, too. I know, I couldn't help it. There was too much time between start and finish of the project and I lost weight. Plus, there was so much changing of the actual pattern that I never could get it quite right. By the way, I used the pattern that cherriesrockmysox suggested. Now I have to figure out a place these would be appropriate...

phoebe0506, I think they look very cute on you.

One comment. They don't really look like the shorts that were popular during the seventies. But, if you're happy with the result, I wouldn't let this fact keep you up at night.  Wink

Yeah, the shortness was the point. It's kind of an inside joke between me and some gay boys down south. I really made them as a novelty item. and, Crafty-Trilobyte, thank you very much for saying they look cute on me.

You rock those shorts! I love 'em! And tell your evil mother that if big booty j-lo can wear spanky shorts, then you should have no troubles.

ps I think the new area code for her ass is 60681.

I think your shorts are awesome- and your mother must be evil if she says your butt is big.
We used to have spanky pants for choir, since we danced. When we twirled, our skirts flew and there were our spanky pants! but ours looked more like plain "grannie panties"; not nearly as cute as yours.  Wink
