I just bought 2 yards each of green, purple and black fabric, but I don't know what pattern to do.

I was thinking about pinwheels.  Does anybody have any other suggestions?

What level of quilter are you? Do you prefer traditional or more modern? Are the fabrics medium/light/dark? Is that two yards of just one green fabric, or 2 yards total of multiple fabrics?

The purple fabric is darkish with silver polka dots, the green is bright with white flowers, and the black has dark gray swirls. In all I have 6 yards of fabric for the top. I probably will get more fabric for the border. I'm still thinking about making pinwheels, I recently found my template to make the wonky style pinwheels and I have not used it yet.

Normally I have a pattern in mind when I go fabric shopping. But my husband told me I need to buy something for myself. My grampa recently died and he thought that it would be nice if I had something to take my mind off of his death.

Aw, I'm sorry for your loss. Your husband sounds like a good guy!

I kind of am loving this pattern right now, not sure if it would be good for just 3 fabrics though.

Not sure if you were looking for only free patterns or are interested in buying one, but I just got this Ruffled Argyle on Clearance and realized it uses 3 colors (and it's really cute!)

Both of those pattern are cool. I don't think I have enough fabric for the first one and I don't have any money for the second one. But im definetly bookmarking both of them.

Oh, that was the one I was thinking of when you said wonky pinwheel! I say go for it if you've got the template!
