Where has the time gone? I know some of us are working on surprises for the Fiber Swap but I still have yarn to share! I meant to share some last week but meh, nobody else did so I was hoping at least one of you guys would be able to this week. Here's what I got:

~160 yards, alpaca tencel Angelina
from this batt

"Copper Mine" ~102 yards BFL Silk, N-ply so it's pretty thick, lovely to spin! Oh my gosh, it was amazing! I totally recommend that shop.

And finally, just did this last night when the kids decided to use the fabric I was trying to work with as a... river? runway? thing to roll your head down? Anyway, they got in the way of me using my fabric so I made this instead:

~83 yards wool, spun from this batt

and plied with a single of the blue.

Lovely work Jexxican!  Love the second one.  those colors are great!   I'm sure I've got yarns to share, just haven't taken pictures!  It's not been very nice here for taking pictures lately.  One day I'll get a photo box....

Wooo! First time posting yarn! After months of ogling the yarns in this forum & spending hours researching, I finally learned to spin on an adventure to a local alpaca farm a few weeks ago! Cheesy With traveling, I haven't been able to do too much, but am really excited to do more with my shiny new drop spindle!

"Frankie M." ~40 yds

The name comes from that it is the fleece from a llampaca named Frank mixed with a little bit of merino. It's not incredibly even, somewhere around a sport & a worsted? But I don't think it's bad for a first full go (I had only done a couple short learning lengths before this one)! Smiley I'm going to knit it into a mug warmer as a part of my sister's Christmas gift set.

Blue Mohair Plying ~133 yds

I don't really feel right naming this one because I didn't spin or dye it. As an extra gift while I was learning, the gal who owns the farm gave me a ball of blue mohair she had on hand so I could learn to ply, it was a practice ball someone else had spun & dyed that had been sitting around for a while. It was great practice! No plans for this yet.

And because I'm stoked about my next project, I need to wash & prep these, like, 10-12 lbs of alpaca fleece I bought recently (for, like, $25, score!) so I can start spinning them! Also waiting on getting some sheep's wool from one of my husband's coworkers! Woo! Cheesy

oK, well, sorry for rambling! I'm just so excited!! Cheesy

Painted Sparrow - yay for posting yarn! That looks great for your first attempt!  Cheesy

Pictures have been taken, so here are my 2 yarns to show you! First we have my first go at plying - 62 yds, 1.6 oz

This I just finished about 15 minutes ago. It's 68 yards and 1.3 oz, spun thick and thin. This roving was dyed by the lovely sarahj2001 in the STS Winter Market. I think I might try to ply it with white thread. I'm calling it "Silks," and it's going to be a Christmas present for a friend. (Silks refer to the flags used in the colorguard in marching band, not the yarn content) Smiley

Thanks for looking!

Lovely yarns, Painted Sparrow!  So happy to see another new spinner join us!
Indigo_Roses, Great work, that pinks one looks so squishy and soft!

Rodelphia, I absolutely recomend Jacey Boggs most recent book, Spin Art.  It has helped me to understand what makes a thick and thin yarn that sitll has structure and balance. Bonus, it comes with a DVD!

Jexxican - In my excitement yesterday, I totally forgot to make a mention about how much I love the colors in your "Copper Mine" yarn! Also, the blue one looks cozy!

Indigo Roses - Beautiful colors in the "Silks" yarn! It looks really pretty & cozy. And thank you for the compliment! Smiley

Belladune - Thank you! I am so glad to finally join in here, lol!

Painted Sparrow, I totally understand being excited and not commenting before you post your own. I still do that sometimes and I'm a veteran at this. Eep! Your yarns are lovely, though. FrankieM is your first you said? Wow! And what a lucky gal to get some mohair to learn about plying with! And Wow Alpaca fleece for the win! I wish we had an alpaca farm around here.

And Indigo Roses is learning to ply, too! Good job! Gifting yarn is always so special; what a lucky friend. Any time I send a box to Spidermom I try to include some yarn, just because.

And thanks everyone else for your kind words. I love posting here more than other boards because we always come together and, oh I don't know how to say it... it feels more like a community in this board than in some of the others.

Yea, the Frankie M. was my first full spin. Smiley The lighter brown is from when I was being taught, I also did some on a Turkish spindle while I was there. But the dark brown was all me by myself. Cheesy I found the farm completely by chance while buying the fleece from someone else who lives on a former alpaca farm who left her a ton of fleece! It was such a happy coincidence, & I'm so excited to be able to get back there, hopefully I can with my new work schedule!
