So, I purchased a pair of leather pants from a thrift store and made an attempt at sewing my first semi-substantive leather project.

So... here are the original pants (I have lots of leather left  Wink)

Inside the wallet

After the fact I learned that there is such a thing as a teflon foot for working with leather! I ordered one post haste and will be giving the whole project another attempt with the foot.

Many lessons learned but still pleased with the wallet.

Nice to have a wallet of real leather, and a  very good use for a pair of old leather trousers.  I look forward to seeing what else you make from them.

Oh yes, that wallet is pretty snazzy. What pattern did you use, if any? Also looking forward to seeing more of your leather crafts!

Thanks everyone for your comments!

So... no pattern, but I guess I could type one up!
I just got my teflon foot in the mail today so I'm going to try to make the same wallet and see how ( much less? more?) wonky it turns out in comparison.

Leather is a whole new world...
