Well it's already stormy and windy here in Virginia. And yet the weather people still can't decide if it's going to kick out and just give us storms or come around and be so bad it kills the power for a week :/ SO I'm going to be safe and upload some fun pictures before the storm (maybe) gets us tomorrow.

Yesterday was BUSY! We started off by going out shopping. We needed a lot of wood to build a bigger cage for Roug (my pet giant tortoise) who needed to come back in before the storm/winter hit. We also made a stop for some craft stuff since a sale was going on

And a fun adventure was had with my best friend. I don't want to spoil some of the really good picture, but this should give you an idea as to what we got up to

Then after everything was done at home, we got ready and went to a Halloween/going away party for a very dear friend I have known since elementary school. I'm sad to see her going but the party was great.

Probably won't have time to post pictures until Sunday evening, but wanted to let you know that Coccinelle came with me to my office job this week -- not terribly exciting, but I think she had fun exploring the area around my desk (you'll see what I mean...).

Tonight we baked two big batches of cookies and still have one more to do in the morning, because tomorrow (or, really, today, since it's after 2:00 in the morning on Sunday as I type this) we'll be helping at a booth at the Larchmont Family Fair.  The neighborhood I live in is called Larchmont Village and is one of several early 20th century neighborhoods in the LA (which is relatively old for us).  We have a two-long-blocks shopping area that's trying hard to maintain a "village" feeling, and it gets blocked off every year the Sunday before Halloween for the Family Fair.  There are booths from local organizations (such as the Boy Scouts, Fire and Police, churches and synagogues, civic groups and the like) offering food and games and information; adorable kiddie rides, a wee petting zoo and ponies; a costume contest for the kids, etc., etc.  A neighborhood group I'm part of has a booth (informational) and we like to give out cookies along with the pamphlets and brochures.

It gets pretty crowded and the weather is going to be hot, but hopefully I'll be able to get some good pictures of Coccinelle enjoying the fun!

Tsunami ended up much smaller than they anticipated.  Rupert had fun watching the news reports though!!

Thursday, I went up to my Mom's to help her with her housework. (She's sick with pneumonia so I told her I would come up and for her to REST!!) While I was there, she asked me to carve her pumpkin for her.

It looks like fun! I've never tried carving a pumpkin (but I've made a lot of pumkin soups and pies). Next time when I buy one I'll give it a try.

Anuenue's weekend trip to Albuquerque is turning into a grand tour of the country. Our flight back to DC tomorrow was obviously cancelled, so we are flying to Atlanta via Denver tomorrow and then plan to rent a car and drive 10 hours back on Tuesday. After we leave
Atlanta, I'm not sure when we'll have Internet again.

Today she had breakfast in Old Town ABQ and went on a short hike in the foothills of the Sandias. Pictures and blog updates will have to wait though....

Saturday, we went to see the Titanic Exhibit in St. Petersburg. I've seen the exhibit before (about ten years ago) but Titanic is always weirdly fascinating and we were getting together with a couple Love knows from his work.

They wouldn't let you take ANY pics in the exhibit but there was a model of the ship in the lobby so I took one of that:


After, we walked down to the Pier and had some lunch. I took a pic from the top floor looking back out to the downtown:


As you can see, it was SO WINDY I was getting knocked around and had to hold Ihaka's hat on! It was like 30mph gusts of wind.

We also walked around the courtyard of the Dali museum (which was right next to the theater where the Titanic exhibit was showing.)
