We haven't done much since Sidney got here, but he'll be going out with my OH next weekend to hang out with some friends.

We took Giles to Gent in Belgium this weekend...


and we enjoyed the beautiful city, the water and of course a good Belgian beer in the Bierhuis (beerhouse) on the other side of the river.


Then Giles wanted to sit on this huge cannon that dates from the Middle Ages. Oh and apparently someone put some kind of orange monster in it 


And we had a look at this beautiful castle that also dates from early middle ages.

Oh and Giles even sent a postcard to Phoenixfiredesigns

Looks great!! How neat popping over to another country! I'd have to drive like 5 hours just to get out of Florida! (And even then, I'd only be in the next state over, Georgia. LOL)

We just got back in from spending the afternoon at an old botanical gardens called Sunken Gardens in the heart of St. Petersburg. It started in 1903 as 4 acres of land that this plumber bought to start as a garden and at it's peak in the 1950's was a major tourist attraction. The State of Florida owns it now to preserve the history of it. I took HUNDREDS of pictures so I'll post some either tonight or tomorrow.

Oh and Giles even sent a postcard to Phoenixfiredesigns

Yesterday, we brought Rupert up Koko Head (technically Koko Crater) for the sunrise.  It's a pretty short "hike" (more like a climb) up an old steep railroad track.  We always go super early in the day because it gets reeeeeeally hot later on.
Rupert was excited about the sunrise over the ocean.



Then, we went swimming in Hanauma Bay, a nature preserve nearby (which is in the real Koko Head...)

Peanut Butter and I had some fun this weekend... Nothing particularly exciting, but we did go play tennis with Fiance and we checked out some pumpkins! More photos at www.pbinvb.blogspot .com but my favorite is this one:

I'm saving some for the album but here's a few of Ihaka's photos from the visit to the botanical gardens today. As you can clearly see, even in late October, things are very green and very lush here! Florida is sub-tropical so we don't have the traditional "Autumn" with changing leaves and such the way other places do. It was a GORGEOUS day outside though with very low humidity (a rarity for us!) so it was a very pleasant day to be outdoors.

Since the gardens were started in 1903, there's a lot of tall, lush plants. It's hard to believe it's right off a very busy street almost in the downtown center of a major city!


One of several waterfalls and small ponds. The gardens were originally dug out 15 feet (almost 5 meters) below street level!

Deer and I haven't had too many adventures yet,but we did pack up a box to ship to my brother and nephew, and she helped me cook dinner tonight! Here she is, sitting on the counter while I was slicing mushrooms and boiling water for spaghetti.

Here he is with his scarf, although today is the warmest day in the past few months here I think Alby brought the good weather.
