Since KodaNRoxyDogs lost her LV, I volunteered to angel. This means I needed to find a brand new LV for her and I will be taking this new LV on a quick, whirlwind tour of the area here before sending her on to her permanent home with KodaNRoxyDogs.

So, I'd like to introduce you all to Malaika! (pronounced mah-LAH-ee-kah) "Malaika" means "angel" and "small child" in Swahili which, given that she's an angel LV, seemed an apt fit! She's a cute little lioness cub and today, we went on our very first adventure - to Busch Gardens Tampa!

Just a few pics as a teaser since I don't want to give it all away - let some of her adventure be a surprise until she goes home. But I wanted to let KodaNRoxyDogs get in the fun spirit again for the swap and have something to look forward to. Much more is planned to give her a fun-packed Florida vacation but she was eager to "meet" everyone! Grin She's a fun and feisty little lioness and she's looking forward to a good time on her Sunshine State vacation! Cheesy

On Sunday, Malaika wanted to see more of the area, so we decided to take a tour of Downtown St. Petersburg! And so we headed off across the Bay to check it out!

We explored the awesome banyan trees....

Saw a pelican...

And got totally rained on trying to get a shot of the city skyline. (We had to take this shot from under the safety of an awning!)

There are of course more pics I'll share in the album. This is just a tease! Grin On Monday, I went to Michael's and got the scrapbook so I can get to work on that as we have our adventures!

LOVE the name, and she's adorable! It looks like the whirlwind tour of FL is going well, and I'm excited to see more of her adventures! My company has our head corporate offices in Florida (Miami and Miramar) so I'm excited to see more of the state. I've only been twice, once to Pensacola, once to Port Canaveral/Orlando, and I was there less than 24 hours each time but I enjoyed it both times.

Thanks for being such a great angel so far PhoenixFireDesigns!

I thought I would post a couple of shots of Aurora and her package before she headed for home - I am so glad she made it back safely.

I loved the SMASHbooks I had been seeing around but the closest thing I could get equivalent in Australia was Amy Tangerine. I still like the mix of papers used and all the bits and pieces you could stick in. The envelopes had things in like Autralian recipes (lamingtons and Anzac biscuits) and Lists of artists/writers/actors and movies that are Australian. I put all the pictures I took on a USB and attached the the front with safety pin and ribbon. One of the pockets also had a keyring and there were postcards stuck in as well (but not as good as the ones Wildfyre found of Alaska)

Wildfyre liked Ausie's sleeping bag so I made Aurora one with the iconic Australian thong (or flipflops as they are called in US - it is one of those words that is a constant source of amusements for Australians and Americans alike  Cheesy)

And some extras - Violet Crumbles (yummy honeycomb chocolate), Australian animal stickers, brochures from our travels and  a thong key-chain  Tongue The book (Eucalyptus) is still here with me and I have to post to Wildfyre as it was going to put the parcel in a higher price range and it will be cheaper to post separately.

Some Australian native plant stamps - Wildfyre said she love anything botanical so when I saw these I just had to include them. The one on the left is a bottlebrush, the one in the middle the Waratah and the one on the right is the kangaroo paw.

I hoped you like everything Wildfyre - it was so much fun to have Aurora with us and I hope I have made it in for the next round  Cheesy

What a great package, whenindoubtsew!
I love those botanical stamps, and the scrapbook looks fabulous!

P. S. here, thongs/ flip-flops are actually called "slippers."  Wink

Saturday, Malaika came with me to the Bay Area Renaissance Festival! Not only that but it was Steampunk Invasion weekend AND I dressed up in my very first steampunk outfit for the day!!

(More pics of my outfit on my blog if you're interested: http://giveneyestosee.com/blog/ )

We also watched the Human Combat Chess match:

And even got to see a really fun group of medieval super heroes!!

There was much more fun but I'll save that for the scrapbook!

Today, Malaika came with me to run some errands. We hit Costco and....a special location that I'm keeping a secret.

But, how about a little teaser?  Wink

We also braved the VERY unseasonably cold weather (seriously, it was 55F with MAJOR winds making it feel much colder when last year this time it was about 90F!!) to visit a park on the way back.

There's an ancient Native American burial mound at the park. ---  And the view from the top looking out at the water.

Not kidding about the cold weather!!  --- And the view coming home crossing the same bit of water.

She's been coming around with me to several locations and trying to get to see as much of Tampa Bay as possible so she has a lot to tell you about when she comes home from vacation! Grin

Weather is definitely relative - it's 50 here today and TOASTY!  I had to run the air conditioner in my car... everyone is running around in shorts, too!

I'd much rather be there, though, instead of watching the last of the snow melt here...  Cheesy
