Florida is sub-tropical in climate so we have some interesting plants and such that you don't find in the rest of the US. Grin

Tee hee except here.  I guess we're theoretically still the U. S.... Smiley
Well, I meant in the continental US. You guys are fully tropical out there! Here, everyone else is "temperate" but in Florida, we're subtropical. Grin

Happy Holidays, fellow hosts and all of our Little Visitors.  Am a little behind on posting photos as I've had several days of filming jobs the last couple of weeks -- some on a low budget raunchy comedy movie and some on a very good TV show (where I'll be working again tomorrow).  Shooting days are very long, typically 12 to 14 hours...which doesn't leave a lot of time (or energy) for posting!  But I do have pictures of Coccinelle's further adventures in Hollywood as well as some other excursions, and hopefully over the weekend I'll have a chance to go through them all, get some up here on Craftster, and also to update Coccinelle's sadly, if unintentionally, neglected travel blog.

I turned into the studyfairy the last two weeks because I had to close in the gap after spending so much time on our project in Marocco. But I'll be having more time next week to do some fun stuff and take Alby with me.

I survived the weekend!... and failed to take a SINGLE picture. I worked a half day Saturday, signed the lease for the apartment, drove to Fairfax, spent less than 12 hours there (party and spent the night and left early in the morning), drove home, worked in the afternoon, and spent Sunday night and Monday (until noon) moving furniture into the apartment. We're still moving in, so I'll get some in-progress photos, but I'm sad that I missed the chance to take a photo of Peanut Butter with my BEST friend. He might be visiting in mid-January though, so I'll have to do it then!

I LOVELOVELOVE the photos of Anana decorating the tree! So cute! And I agree, I think he makes a great stand-in for the star Smiley I'll be doing my Christmas decorating this weekend after we're done unpacking.

Alexampersandra, I hope the move is going well and is not too stressful!

So many good pictures - ooooh, a teeny tiny tortoise!  How cute!

I have some pictures of Faox at the Natural History Museum and Spencer Art Gallery at KU, but I'm in the middle of trying to move computers (got - err... "getting" ... a Windows 7 machine for Christmas, have to migrate everything and Vista doesn't make that easy, which is why I put it off for so long - but stories of Windows 8 terrify me!).

But we're still here!  This weekend I'm busy with some charity events at some nursing homes, so not much to post about, but next Friday we're going out for a bellydance show on the last day on earth!

Ihaka got to experience something AWESOME yesterday. The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights! It happens each year at Disney's Hollywood Studios theme park in Walt Disney World (Orlando, Florida) and it's literally millions of Christmas lights covering every inch of every building across several blocks of "stage" streets. The real bonus is that every 10 minutes, they also make the lights DANCE to music!

Here's one of the videos of him enjoying the show!  Grin

Hehehe!  Great dancing, Ihaka!  Barbara Streisand's version of "jingle Bells" is a tricky one, but it looks like you caught all the meter changes :p

Those are some really beautiful shots of Ihaka!!! So many lights!

I finally have internet in the new apartment so I can update again! (The internet filters etc at the library won't allow me to post to discussion boards for some reason.)

There are several new photos on the blog (www.pbinvb.blogspot.com) from the Hobbit midnight release and decorating for Christmas, and tonight, we made a few presents:

We made sriracha salt! I found the recipe on Offbeat Home, but it's really simple: 1/2 cup of kosher salt plus 5 tsp of sriracha sauce, mix it thoroughly and spread it out, let it sit in a warm, dry place for a day or two, then you can bottle it. More photos of other salty gifts on the blog!

ETA: Just realized that posting my family's Christmas presents on my blog (which I post about on Facebook, where I'm friends with most of my family) is probably a pretty bad idea, so no photos of the salty gifts over there. At least not until after Christmas!

Anuenue walked around downtown Greenbelt to check out the Roosevelt Center last weekend. Most everything was closed since it was Sunday morning.

There is an aquatic center, movie theater, and arts center:

A bunch of weird sculptures, most of which are about community values or New Deal stuff, but this big one is just "Mother and Child".

Most of the housing is original to the New Deal art deco style buildings that were put in for government workers. (Greenbelt was a government-owned, planned, and built city created during the New Deal). The houses are super tiny by modern standards in the US. This one has been restored with period furnishings to act as a museum.
