Plarn Gingham Purse

Here is a gingham purse I crocheted with recycled plastic bags. The project uses about 15 white, grey, and black plastic bags. I cut them about 1 inch wide and assembled them using the looping method. I used a three color gingham style to crochet the shell with half double crochet stitches with a N (9 mm) hook. I lined the bag, added a magnetic closure and some store bought plastic handles.

I'm always looking for new and unique ways I can craft with plarn so doing a gingham design was a new challenge and after several attempts, this was the final product.

Very impressive.  I love the gingham checked effect. Shows that even plain black, white and grey plarn can be beautiful.

Thanks! It really didn't take that much time after I had the three different colors of plarn cut and ready to crochet with. It is just two panels and then crochet them together around on 3 sides. The lining and getting it all put together took longer as I just had to get my sewing machine out and get motivated to get the lining sewn.

The lining is hand sewn in. I only used the sewing machine to make the lining and the pocket inside the lining. Once I had the lining done, I then hand-stitched it in place through the plarn.
