I've been looking around a lot latley and I really want to get an industrial straight stitch machine.  I design mostly outerwear and really what I need is a machine that will sew medium weight wool and 3L hard shell (goretex).  I do also use silk in some of my designs so I don't need a super beast.  I'm just kind of lost as to what is good for me.  I've done a lot of research (and this site has been helpfull), but I need your help.

I understand that older machines (if they are maintained) are very good; however, I have found a lot of newer machines in my price range (< $700).  I really just need the simplest of machines, allthought a machine with a servo is desired.  Are there any specific models that you guys might suggest (or that I should avoid), or brands from a certain era?

Thanks!
