I have been doing alot of crafts in felt lately, so its time for a new project. I have a vast collection ( 3 drawer filing cabinet ) of vintage transfers. I thought these were really cute and I am going to do them on a blue raw silk and use different stitches for the aquarium plants like the feather stitch, stem stitch fly stitch etc. Its going to be a throw pillow for my dd's ocean themed room. Lets see what you craftsters can come up with. These are fresh water fish, the goldfish is adorable.
For the curious these patterns are copyright 1939 from the pinetree craftshop booklet.

Thanks for the pretty patterns. I'll post what I come up with. Do you have any other fish patterns? Smiley

Dyabolica-
Thanks for being so generous with your patterns! I still have the girl with the dishes in my pile of things I want to embroider. I just want to let you know that I appreciate them all and some day I will stitch them and post a picture.  Grin

Alright, I'm pretty proud of this.  I made the fish into a wall hanging.  I love a good old fashioned embroidery wall-hanging... so glorious and useless.  I painted up an embroidery hoop for the frame, because I wanted it to be a round fish bowl, then I added sequins for bubbles.  I used a frig-load of stitches, because I wanted it to look loud and obnoxious.   I realized afterwards I should have added plants, but meh.
The whole fishbowl

The goldfish

The angelfish

Them other fishes

hope you enjoy!!

That's so good.  I love the sequins/bubbles.   I was going to do something similar only stitch the bowl, I didn't think to use the hoop as the fishbowl.    Maybe someday I'll get to it!  There's so many things I have waiting to be embroidered...and then on top of that, all the other types of crafts I'm trying to get finished too.

That looks great! How do you keep your stitches so straight? Even when I have a transfer, my stitches are all over the place.

thanks guys!  I had a lot of fun sewing them.  The stitches are straight only because I took SOOO long to do them.  I always go back and redo stitches if they're crooked... I've also heard some people say that stitching fast keeps their stitches straighter, so I don't know.  I guess it depends on your style.  anyhoo, thanks for the nice comments!! Cheesy

I LOVE this fishbowl. I realize this topic hasn't been active in a while, but I thought it deserved comment - I especially love the clever choice of fabric and the multi-colored threads / different stitches. It looks terrific!

They were actually just two different coloured threads that I sewed with at the same time - it gives some nice effects - and its fun to work with.  if you take two constasting colours, it can look kind of ... marbly(?)... anyways - thanks for the nice comments!!
