I love figures on spools. When I saw these cute Halloween spools on Pinterest, I thought, "Why have I never done trick or treaters?", and set out to make my own version.  I took figures from various Alpha Stamps collage sheets and dressed them up, adding hats, masks, rhinestones, and glitter, and then gave them all tiny pumpkins and a "trick or treat" flag. Here's the whole gang together:

Here's the first one I made. Let's call her "Patsy".

I found that pencils fit in the spool holes perfectly, so that is what supports each figure. The flagpole is made from a bamboo skewer, and glued in place with E6000 glue. The wings are actually bat cutouts, also from Alpha Stamps.

I loved making that first little trick or treater so much that I had to make a few more. Here's Benjamin. He went to live with a swap partner.  Smiley

I made several more, but the photos are so large. Here are some thumbnails of them. I also have them posted on my blog, if you want a better view.

Thanks! They were so fun to make. I'm planning now on making some little Christmas elves, once I'm done with all the Halloween crafting.  Grin

I love these so much and they have given me a great idea to use some real family photos.  In the last two months I have lost a brother, a brother-in-law and a sister-in-law.  Needless to say hubby and I have dragged out every box of photos from every nook and cranny in our house.  I kept telling him that when things settled down some I was going to have to try to find some creative ways to get more of the old family shots out on display to be enjoyed every day.  This would be am amazing start.  Thank you Rackycoo for sharing.

I'm so sorry for your loss, coocoosnest. I think this would be a great way to display old family photos. They wouldn't necessarily have to be dressed up in Halloween costumes...you could find a way to show what their interests were, or highlight some aspects of their personalities. If you had several different height spools, it would make a really sweet display.

Thank you Rackycoo.  You're right and now I seem to be having more and more ideas. It's funny how people seem to cross your path at just the right time. Thank you again.

Sweet!  I like the flags, they really make the piece.  And just the right number of accouterments to balance each one. Nice work!
