Glass table top

Recently I went to take out my garbage and there was a piece of glass sitting there. It looks like a table top. It is about 2'x4' and probably 1/2" thick. It has a black border all the way around the edge that is about 2" wide. I don't know how it was applied, but I'm pretty sure the color is inside the glass somehow. There are no cracks or chips or scrapes of any kind. I just had to take it home, but have no idea what to do with it. Oh, and the edges are beveled. It would make a way cool picture frame, but unfortunately it is too heavy and I would have no idea how to attach something to hang it.

My thought is to make a coffee table from it, and I do need a coffee table. I have two upholstered stools and would rather have something to set stuff on, but then I will miss putting my feet up......

I'm at a loss for what I could use for a table base. I know I could get premade table legs at a home improvement store, but I don't have woodworking tools to make the rest. I wish I could find a metal base of some sort. I think that would look best. Wrought iron would be awesome, but spendy to have made.

Does anyone have any idea's for me??? For a table base..... For another use......

Base ideas:
old wrought iron sewing machine base  ~ antique look
plastic/metal base of a computer chair *the kind with wheels*  ~  convienient
wide spray painted pvc  ~  futuristic look *especially painted silver*
a wide log of wood (free if you or a neighbor has to do yard work XD)  ~  natural/earthy look

trying to add on to the already great list (

would it fit on your media table underneath your TV as an accent?
if it has color in it, can you put it against one of your windows like stained glass?
would likely be a great outdoor table top
use it on your kitchen counter with some mages/recipe's underneath it and it could be wher eyou put bread/fruit etc.. kind of an un work area on the kitchen counter

That depends - I guess I like function too, so I would keep an eye out for maybe a bookshelf to cut down and use as the ends, that way you have the surface on top, but also maybe some shelving space to put things, like remote controls, tissue boxes, books, to keep the top uncluttered.  You could also maybe find a plain table base and decorate the top of the table - a collage, painting, pictures, or something, and then add something to raise up the glass and use the glass as a protective surface to prevent the art underneath from being disturbed.

For the base:
a pair of single drawer file cabinets,
buckets,
wicker baskets/hampers,
cute trash cans (you won't use them, of course),
some kind of cardboard construction, like spirals of corrugated cardboard (it's very strong),
sculptures made of ceramic, cement, papier mache (check garden centers)
flower pots...
