Quilt Block Swap – Round 2 (Sign Ups Closed, Send Outs 12/15/12)

My favorite is www.fatquartershop. com I love their service and selection, but they might be a bit higher priced than Hawthorne threads. Fabric.com is supposed to be cheap, but sometimes they mess up orders and apparently just send the fabric wadded in a big pile lol.

www.fabricdepot.com has sales all the time where everything is 20-35% off. They are my local store so I've never bought online, but I get the online sales emails and they seem good.

I like www.connectingthrea ds.com and also the two mentioned by Mare...I have had a lot of luck with designer fabrics at www.zeetzeet.com and www.emeraldcityfabr ics.com   oh, and www.jandofabrics.co m  but they are not cheap fabrics...just cheaper than my local high end store...I mostly buy online for convenience and to get a specific fabric...

I mentioned in the QuiltAlong thread, but I've used some of the blocks from two of my groups (the pinwheel and the wonky log cabin) to make a quilt top for sweets4ever's new baby! I framed the smaller pinwheel blocks out to match the size of the others and got them pieced together and added a border. The color schemes I used for those two groups matched her nursery colors pretty well!

Thanks everyone, I looked around at the shops suggested, placed an order with two just on sale odds and ends to see how the fabric looks and how the whole things goes LOL.

I needed some odd ends to go with what I have to work on a couple of projects, and a bit of solid to finish up the backing on another. The sashing on the swap quilt.

Just my local shop has lost her mind! jumping up about 5.00 a yard so much of the fabric is now close to 15 and 20 a yard. dont know about others but that is out of my price range.

I do love shopping local and have loved the shop, but goodness!!!!

Sadly the last two LQS in my county are in the process of closing.  That makes 4 that have closed in the past couple years.  

I did my share to keep them open... but there is only so much one can do.

I loved going in there and shopping and chatting with the ladies that run it. We have the one here in town and a couple in the town up the road in one direction about 25miles up the road and another about 15miles up the road.

I just dont understand the increase. the one here in town has always been a little bit more the others in the area, but the also offer the classes and have a little bed and breakfast type thing with weekend quilting events and so forth.

nice shop, lovely people, but the prices shhhh
