A happy heart makes the face cheerful! Pr 15:13

I was inspired by this post by Knickertwist to do two things.  First, I joined the Facebook group she mentioned, called Art Abandonment, which is for people who make art and leave it in public places for random strangers to find.  Second, I made this series of altered matchboxes to abandon.

Each matchbox is covered with book pages (I got a book on clearance for a dollar!), and there is a paper heart glued to the inside.  I sewed fabric collages for the tops (which I glued to the matchboxes), and I made stuffed collaged hearts for the inside.  Each heart asks, "got art?"

Below you can see how I packaged them before leaving them around town.  The tag behind the "Free Art" card tells about the facebook group and gives an email address to report the find.

So far no one has send an email to say that they found a matchbox.  I hope that doesn't mean they all ended up in the garbage somewhere!

Leslie those are so sweet and beautiful! oh how happy would I be to find one.

And you are totally inspiring me to try an altered matchbox.

I happen to be assembling/finishing my pieces for the art abandonment swap today, can't wait to get them off into the world. Smiley

That's so cool! I've seen abandoned art before, but I had no idea there was a FB group either, so thanks for that. Smiley

Oh you really NEED a holiday in Europe the Netherlands so you can drop your art there!!!!
And tell ME about it, of course!!!  Roll Eyes

I would really be delighted to find such a piece of art! I received this "art book" with all sorts of small pockets and cards from Sharalee in a swap and I simply adore it! It is like a piece of art to me and I display it in my room. Every time I look at it, I feel so happy!

No one mailed yet? That must mean that they are in awe and stopped moving since then!  Wink  I'm sure someone will send you an email and thank you.

I love them all, Leslie! Your (h)ard/t work will be appreciated, I know it!
Did I mention that * this rocks* ??

Altered matchbox is a fabulous idea for abandoning (love secrets inside of surprises) and these are, of course, quite lovely.

I love that group. I haven't abandoned, but plan some little dottees soon. Finishing an art doll swap and then on to abandoned art and holiday gifts. Your boxes are so awesome.

Thanks, everyone!

Lovesclutter--I think I have seen you post a comment or two on Art Abandonment--it's fun to see a familiar face!
