oh.. what the heck, I'll share the picture here too.

Snow, October 10th, 2012 by SpinHeartSpin, on Flickr

So, that's not a lot a lot, but it already started to melt by the time I was awake enough to think to take a picture.  But I still don't want to wash wool out doors in 5'C (5'from freezing) weather Wink

Belladune, you keep that snow up there! I don't want another year of snow on Halloween. Snow's supposed to come in December for Christmas!  Tongue

I sent out my Hogwarts swap package today, so now it's on to this one! Yay fiber! I think I need to go buy some more wool to experiment with dye. Cheesy

I wish it was going to stay... I hate when snow comes and goes.  it makes a mess.  I like when it stays!

We have rain here, and if it gets just a couple degrees cooler it'll turn into snow. I always love the first snow of the year but I hate the slush it leaves behind.
I love that this swap gives me a chance to get down to my local alpaca farm, my daughter will love seeing the baby alpacas and I get to touch all the fiber-y goodness in the store!  Cheesy

So the SO is the 29th... I can do that. I have an OPS claim that I need to make, then this one, and I bet I can get this out by next Wednesday. Here's crossing my fingers... I have more questions for my partner! Yay! Let's go chat.

lmso!!   It's totally our fault.  indeed Wink

Well.  It was supposed to be 10`c today, so I was saving the wool washing for today.  But guess what?  there's more snow on the ground.  I guess I'll be doing it in the tub.  sigh...

So, I had an interesting adventure in natural dyeing this weekend.

I saw an article about eucalyptus dyeing that produced some beautiful coppery results.  Naturally I thought it was wonderful since I love orange.  I bought some eucalyptus and read up on mordants so I used some alum mordant soak, boiled my eucalyptus, and dove right in.  I imagine my surprise when ended up with a nice green result.  Of course it smells nice but it isn't the coppery orange I was expecting.

I've decided that from now on I will stick to all the "unnatural" dyeing processes. LOL  I think I prefer predictability in my dyeing.

Checking in.  To be honest, I haven't started lol  BUT I will be starting on Thursday (tomorrow?!) with the dyeing.  It's the easy part.  I even found some nice fiber in my stash that I want to use.  One of my favorite sheep breeds.  Now lets just keep our fingers crossed that my little girl goes to bed early with no problems! ha!

Oh the nature dyeing fun!  The article didn't tell you the mordant type, rhymeswOrange?  Kind of odd.   But I can understand your frustration.  What I'm really looking forward to is the 25 colors from one dye pot experiment in Level 3 of the master spinners course.  We use 25 different mordants, and one dye stock and the range of colors is AMAZING.  8 more months!  lol

.. I do hope your daughter goes to sleep quickly and easily tomorrow night!  Having your dye night fun spoiled by kids is something I fully understand, and wish on no one Smiley
