Crafting to keep insanity at bay.

Ok so I just tried to go to bed but am haunted by the idea of ugly Christmas sweaters. I'm not sure why I have fallen in love with them so much in the last week or so but now I can't stop thinking about it. Sadly I don't really have a reason to make one for myself or an ugly Christmas sweater party to wear it to (wouldn't that be a dream  Cheesy) but then I started thinking...how could I turn this newfound love/obsession into something I could own/use/have fun making. Thus the idea was born!

How about an Ugly Christmas Sweater ornament swap!

The challenge: Make an ugly christmas sweater ornament no smaller than let's say 3" square but no bigger than 5" square. I was thinking we could be in groups of 4 or 5 (numbers are flexible depending on the amount of interest in this) then we could have a whole collection of sweaters! I was thinking of making mine into a garland rather than actual ornaments but that could be up to personal preference.

I'd prefer my sweaters to be made from fiber material (i.e. felt, fabric, knitted, crocheted, etc) but we could also have groups that are ok with mixed media (anything goes) or maybe just paper, etc.

This would also be great for low shipping costs. And open to international swappers too! I'd be willing to organize; signups for two weeks and then a month of crafting time. Something along those lines?

Anyone with me!  Grin

Such a cool idea really! Love your garland of ugly christmas sweaters! haha thats fantastic! Personally I think that it would awesome making it a mixed media free for all inspiration ugly sweater swap because you can get a lot more variety that way. Gosh I will be in serious need of ornaments when we move out too which might be before Christmas *fingers crossed*... I signed up for the sweat shop ornament swap but wow this sounds awesome too! I just might have to join in if you start this up!

I didn't think I wanted an ugly sweater ornament, until I saw your patch, sheepBlue! I'd be in if this gets going.

Haha thanks! I really have no reason to make a real one for myself, but I could live vicariously by making a lot of mini ones!  Cheesy Hense the idea of this swap.

What do you guys think of expanding this idea a little? I've been thinking of seeing if anyone is interested in a Teesha Moore Patch Ornament Swap. Ugly sweaters could be one of the themes! I need some ornaments, too, and I think these patches are just the perfect size!

Of course, an ugly sweater ornament idea might not be able to be contained in a TM patch, so it might not fit perfect, but it might help us drum up some more interest.

Just an idea! I'm in either way. Thoughts?

Either way I'm still in.  I've never done a TM patch but I'm all for stretching my craft muscles.
