I get to start!

I've been up to a lot lately.  Check it out!  spun thick and thin, then plied with black thread and blending filament.  You can't see it in the pic, but the filament makes it sparkly.

And a soft spun thick and thin merino single

A core spun batt that was sadly a bit felted a bit so I kinda hate this yarn.  It's not at all what I wanted it to be.  And its over twisted, so I might use it in a plied yarn sometime.

And this was spun on a drop spindle!  I'm not that big a fan of drop spindling, but this was homework, and I think I'm redoing this one.... it's got issues.

These two are woolen spun from carded rolags.  I altered my carding method, and I much prefer the one on the left.  I'll be carding my rolags this way from now on.  These were also homework.   That I'll be redoing.

Who else has been spinning this week?

That first one makes me soooo happy!
And the pink, wooooow! That is what I call thick and thin and I bet it will work up most wonderfully.
I love seeing your homework! Are those 2 ply or N-ply?

I will be sharing some later. I had forgotten it was Friday so I still need to take pics and upload.

Cheesy Thanks!!!  I forgot to mention that first one was top from Zombie_Queen in the last fibre swap.  (Speaking of fibre swaps, I guess I ought to get on opening the next one, right?)
The homework yarns are simply 2 ply.

Belladune: Those yarns are lovely; you have been busy! I agree that the top yarn is really fun (and I'm biased, 'cause those are about my favorite colors).

I have been creating a lot of singles this week, most of which I haven't gotten around to plying yet. These are all from batts I made, a mix of bfl, alpaca, llama and lincoln locks:

And I did get some yarn finished; this is around 200 yards, plied, from the same materials in a different color way. (sorry for the slight blurriness of the picture)

It's bad enough wasting time, without killing it.

Belladune and Milo, I love both of your top colors!

I've been spinning this week! I showed you guys the first skein of this batch last Friday. Here's 4 oz of "Thinking of Spring." I can tell I've gotten better. This time I got 140 yards total. Smiley

I also spun up one more little skein. This one has wool, mohair, alpaca, silk, and glitz in it. It's 1.3 oz and 54 yards.

On the spindle right now I have more of the same. This time I'm trying to spin it really thin, then spin another that's the same, then try to ply them together.

As promised (last week! :S)  Here is some yarn I spun on WWSIP Day!

It is superwash BFL.  I can't wait to see what the finished yarn looks like... probably 10 years from now. lol

Milo, that one on the flyer looks so... I like it.

Indigo_roses, it's always nice to see progression. Your yarns are lovely!

Dollface, yay! SIP! Where did you go? You got an action shot of that? Are you going to ply it? Why not finish it? It's already on the bobbin!

Now here's my fat post. Last week I challenged myself to card at least one color way every day from Friday to Friday. It didn't happen. I got Friday and Saturday... And today. I did a bunch today, though, to try to make up for it. I think it's time to put the carder away until I get more fibers. I've depleted my stash, kind of. Maybe I'm just tired of the same stuff. Anyway, here's what I carded:

Alpaca and angora! And "punta" wool. (snickers)

Wool! + firestar

More Wool! + Angelina

Alpaca, wool, and Ramie?

Teeswater locks, wool, and firestar?

Wool!

I also did some spinning! I love these!

This is all 5 Fall color ways from Friends In Fiber. I got a pack that had 1oz of each and spun 2 1/2 of them on 2 bobbins then plied them. I love it! All BFL.

And this is 4oz of the Indian Corn from that same shop, love them! The colors are a little brighter in the pic than real life. BFL

I just finished this. It was a batt with Shetland, silk, Ingeo, and Mohair that Belladune sent me in the OPS. corespun on some cotton thread, ~60yards.

Jexxican - lol um.. well.. I spun at the Farmer's Market, no action shot, going to ply it on itself, too busy with other crafts  to finish it right away  Cry
Also, jealous of your batts!  they are GORGEOUS!

You guys have done such great stuff! <3 I'm so happy to see what you've been doing. I've just been lurking as of late. But I did some spinning this week.

I spun my singles

Then I did my first ever 3-ply with them. It seems to turn out well. I'm waiting for my niddy noddy to arrive in the mail so I can skein it out.

The blue and green seem to blend in together. I could have done better with that. But I'm still happy.

Andean ply, or Navajo?  I think it might look lovely andean, to mix up the colors.  But the striping effect when you  Navajo ply is cool to.

Lots of lovely batts, Jexx!  And yay!  yarn from the batt I sent!  It looks lovely!  Did it spin up easily?

Lovely work Brea!  I like the way the three colors play off eachother!

They really should re-name that wool.  Roll Eyes  It made me giggle.  I teach preschool, and last year we had a student with autistic tendencies who would apparently re-enact the arguments her parents had.  She was Spanish, and apparently her parents used that (insert name of wool here) word A LOT!  Grin Tongue

I know its Saturday, but this is what I've been up to.
Here we have some wool-that-should-be-renamed, dyed grey and light blue. Its a pretty consistent worsted weight single, unknown yardage. I also made the drop spindle, it was a failed attempt at making it sparkly but it has a really balanced spin and has turned into my favorite. Smiley

Next up is some alpaca that I spun up really fine, andean plied, then dyed crazy bright pink in my crock pot. I used Wiltons food coloring in Rose, and its really bright. Cheesy Theres about 180 yards total, I wound it into a ball and started a triangle granny scarf with it before I remembered to take pictures of it. Oops! lol.

Hope everyone has a fiber-filled weekend!

Breabadair, I think it looks great. Seeing all 3 singles makes me happy, too.
Belladune, it did spin up nicely. It looked rougher than it was.
Rodelphia, those are both lovely. That pink is so bright! Your Wool-that-shall-not-be-named looks so soft. Those colors compliment it well.
I think I need to send a message to the Sheep Shed...
