This quilt was inspired by the mario quilt I saw here on craftster.  I decided that my fiance needed a kick ass wedding gift.  It took 4 people and about 20 hours.  I cut every "pixel" to be 2.5 inches finished to make a quilt that is roughly queen size. Everything was sewn into nine-patches.  That is where I enlisted the help of my friends.  Then I sewed them all together and quilted it on the Handi-Quilter!

Thank you for looking!

Wow...that is truly amazing! I love it. I have been wanting to make a quilt like this for my husband too...but I never start it, as the quilting part totally discourages me. But you have me courious...what is a handi-quilter...would it help me do the quilting on the top. I've tried doing it with my machine, but its too frustrating, so I haven't completed another quilt since my first one. Can you give me some tips? You did an amazing job, and your fiance is soooo lucky!

Good job,

http://www.handiquilter.com/index.html  This will tell you all about them.  It's just one of those things that my soon to be MIL bought and I am the only one that uses it.  They are pretty expensive, but if you do many big quilts, it will more than pay for itself.  For example, I would have sent the Luigi quilt out to be quilted by someone else and that would have cost me roughly $150.  Space is a good thing to have if you want a set-up like this, too.  We have it set on a banquet table and it doesn't come down.  As portable as they say it is, it's a pain in the ass. Smiley

I hope that helps, if you have any more questions, just ask. Smiley

This is simply amazing. I have wanted to learn to quilt so I could make quirky stuff like this for ages. I just don't have the time to take up yet another [expensive] hobby. Mad props to you! I heart this quilt!
