Hello to all my Craftster friends worldwide, I'd like to share with you all my knitting pattern for Remembrance Day 2012.

It's been a momentous year for us Brits with the Queen's Diamond Jubilee and the London Olympics, and we have another Remembrance Day approaching when we remember the fallen soldiers and civilians in many wars in our recent and past history.

There is a tradition in the UK of wearing poppies during the months of October and November to commemorate those who have fought for the freedoms that we enjoy today. This culminates in a ceremony on the 11th November at 11am when we remain silent for 2 minutes to remember those who lost their lives in historical wars ("the 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month" as quoted by Winston Churchill, I think).

In honour of that pledge, I have designed a poppy, the design of which I am selling for £1.00 on Ebay to raise funds for the Royal British Legion in the UK, a charity supporting the retired and disabled soldiers who have fought in conflicts for the sake of the UK; 100% of the proceeds go to the Royal British Legion, and I'm hoping to sell a few patterns to add to this worthy charity's coffers and I'm hoping that my fellow Craftsters will help them out by buying the pattern and also tell their knit-happy friends.

Thank you for your time, and an additional thank you from the Royal British Legion.

This is the link to the pattern on Ebay. 100% of the proceeds go the Royal British Legion. All fees are waived by Ebay.
