Fire Lizard a la Ann McCaffreys Dragon Riders of Pern

A new coworker asked me if I had ever read the Dragonriders series and it made me remember my mom reading them to me as a little girl.

In the books there are big ride-able dragons but there are also small "firelizards" which are like pets. I wanted a fire lizard so bad. Well I got to reminiscing and now that I (kind of) know how to knit I decided to try my hand at making one.

I used a lot of other patterns as a reference point but mostly "sculpted" as I went along.

All knitted in a scrap of bamboo/wool I got a year ago in a bargain bin.







 I decided to give him to my coworker as a thank you because she reminded me of some of my fvorite books, but this was the only box I could find at work.


So I made my own labels. I am now a fire lizard breeder 



I can't wait to make my next one. You know how it goes, you try something and by the end you have ten ways to improve on it.

Has it told you what its name is yet?

Are you going to show it too a McCaffrey? To Todd?
Don't know whether you know but his mother, Anne McCaffrey, died a year or so ago.
(I am taking part in a reading challenge - to read the Pern books, a certain number of them.)

Hopefully you kept note of the pattern you made up - so you can produce another fire lizard.
