I'm converting my shoulder bag into a crossbody so I need to replace the purse strap. Can anyone recommend a paint for vinyl  or leather. I may purchase vinyl-ish material from the fabric store or , if I can find the proper length, even hack a strap from another bag. If I can't get the strap color to match the bag then perhaps I could just paint the bag and strap another color.
Thanks!!

I've used acrylic paint with textile medium to stencil on genuine leather with no problems. However, because you must heat-set the textile medium, it's probably not a good idea to use on vinyl. I haven't used real fabric paints since I was, like, 12, but Tulip, or any of the other big name brands, may have a paint line designed for vinyl. A "craft" store such as Michael's might be a good place to look.

But, that being said, if you buy some vinyl at the fabric store, you'll definitely be able to get a colour that's close! The last time I bought vinyl, they had three different reds to choose from. Just plain, solid red Tongue

I think your best bet for painting vinyl is spray paint that's formulated specifically for vinyl. Other paints will simply peel off when it's dry. Probably requires a trip to Home Depot.
