ok so I actually made this last winter but I never shared it so here you go!
I really wanted a pixie hat but I didn't like the look of any patterns I found online and I'm far to cheap/broke/whatever to buy patterns, so I ended up making up my own. For the first thing I've knitted without a pattern I'd say it came out fantastic.

I was super obsessed with seed stitch and ruffled edges when I made it, so of course I had to incorporate those. It's knitted from Lion Brand Yarn Wool-Ease in Willow on size 11 straight needles. Super soft, super warm, and decently stretchy. Can't wait to break it out again this year. Unfortunately I only have two, really bad web-cam pics of it, but you still get the idea

EDIT: here's the pattern for anyone who wants to make one of their own. all I ask is that you don't use it for profit and if you make a hat I would love to see the results!
Size 11 needles
Lion Brand Yarn, Wool Ease
CO 232
K2tog across the row
K2tog across the row (58 sts)
Work 2x2 rib for 2 rows
Work in seed st for a total of 4-5 inches
Seed 2, *seed 9, k2tog* repeat between * til last 2 sts, seed 2
Seed row, being sure to purl the decrease sts
Seed 2, *seed8, k2tog* repeat between * til last 2 sts, seed 2
Seed row, being sure to purl the decrease sts
Continue in this fashion until there is only 1 st, BO stitch and seam the hat.
