Two posts in one day, this is a big crafting week for me Smiley

I have started and almost finished about 5 dresses for myself... Its either unfinished zippers, unfinished hems, slightly wonky seams or the sleeve I just can't seem to make work... So they are all still in my box of things to do.

But....

I thought, hey if I make something for somebody else... not only will I have more pressure to finish, I will also have a living dress form, because fitting my own clothes was becoming a nightmare!

My sister Jane, who is in the photos, decided on the pattern and the cute bird fabric. I have never fully lined a dress, had one with pockets or used boning... but oh well, I was going to give it a try!

I decided it was an experiment, and if I had another unfinished dress, it wasn't going to kill me, but least I could see if making things for others would keep me interested... It seems to work. It may have taken a few weeks, but here is my first completed (except for one little hook and eye needed above the zipper) dress!!!!

C and C welcome Smiley Haha and what are the chances of me ever putting that hook and eye on Wink

Very lovely! That fabric is amazing! I definitely recommend getting the hook and eye in sooner rather than later (or never). I had a friend whose dress was missing them, and she had to really do some rigging to keep it from coming unzipped. This was her wedding dress, and it started coming undone 4 minutes before she marched out. Bridesmaids to the rescue! At any rate, you don't want your sis out enjoying herself and suddenly fighting just to conceal herself!

Thank you so much for your kind comments Smiley

I was laying in bed reading them, and I saw Rebecnic's comments about the hook and eye... I had horrible images of a wardrobe malfunction happening because of my laziness, jumped out of bed, went downstairs and hand sewed them right on!

The dress is done!

Thanks so much for all the kind words Smiley I'm so happy with the way it turned out!

I wish I knew the name of the fabric as obviously she made a great choice. But if anybody wants it and lives in Australia, I got it at Lincraft.

If anybody wants the name of it, let me know because its not too far from my house and I could get you the name. Haha maybe I should just go the rest of the roll.

Thanks again everybody Smiley So exciting to have so much good feedback from my first completed dress Smiley I will have to find the name of the fabric. If anybody would like it let me know! But if you live in Australia, I got it at Lincraft. I have looked but never seen it at Spotlight. Its super soft and was so nice to work with. I was even lucky that most of the bird wires lined up Wink
