A woman is commissioning me to make her a corset, but I'm confused by the measurements she gave me. I'd like to see if anyone in this forum can help me out before I email her again.

Its for an underbust corset, so I asked for the ribcage measurement right under her bust (34) waist (37) and hips (41). She wants the waist of the corset to be reduced to a 34", which would leave the top half of the corset like a cylinder, which seems off to me. I would think that on any body type it would taper in a little bit at the waist at least. Does anyone have a similar body type to the measurements that might have any corset experience with?

I hope this post made sense, please, any help would be great before I start drafting a pattern here.

I don't think it would actually be that bad since it is an underbust corset.  I think that reducing the waist to 34" would actually give her more of an hourglass figure than what she has now.  It would emphasize her bust and hips better.

Your best bet would be to make a draft and prepare a sample for her to try on.  Then once she sees just what it looks like, then you could tweak it.

Don't call it trash...I can make something with it!!!

Seems fine to me .
It's just a 3 inch gap at the back .
Most have a 4 inch gap at the back

Have you thought  of the underbust to waist and the waist to hip length ?

And yes, a mock-up would be helpfull  Wink
