So, I have been keeping a diary which I will give to my bf once it's done - it's just random thought about him, how happy he makes me, etc (slush, I know. Sorry!). Since we are both massive Doctor Who nerds, I thought it would be cool to decorate the book to make it look like River Song's Journal

So I started out with a plain black note book (I coloured over the brand name with sharpie to stop it showing through), added the tardis doors relief with in cardboard cut outs, then got happy with blue tissue paper & glue Smiley I added more layers in some places and less in others so that some areas would be really dark with the black of the notebook beneath showing through, and some areas would be really bright blue. While the glue was still wet I used a carpet needle and my fingernail to make sure the paper was falling into the gap between my tardis doors. Then, once the final layer was *nearly* dry I added a layer of matte varnish (the sort for using on paintings) - because the glue was still a little wet that gave a nice cracked effect. The whole thing is still a little shiner than I'd want ideally, but not AS shiny as it looks in that photo - I just had to get uber with the lighting so my cameram would poick up some of the cracked detailling (you can only really see it in the lower right corner in the pic, but it's actually all over).

Once the outsiode was all done I used the first leaf of the notebook to line the inside cover, then I folded the first page back and stuck it with those padded stickies to make a little pocket for putting ticket stubs, recipts and the like in
I know it's not the most original project ever but I was pleased with how it came out and I think my boy will like it once I've filled it all in Smiley

I wasn't sure if this was the best board to put this on so if the mods want tyo move it go ahead! Sorry Smiley

I'd love feedback & critisism, this is my first real go with something like this, and I had fun so I'd like to do it again... if you guys have any tips to improve my technique I'd be thrilled

I think it looks fantastic.  I like how it looks aged and worn.

You don't need a permit for a glue gun.
