Wow, thanks for the heads up Ptarmic.  I hadn't heard of the postage price increase yet.

here's a snippit of the table for the price increases.  I skipped a lot of the rows in the spreadsheet because making tables here on Craftster is a bit fiddly, but I did include the lower 4 ounces and then some of the heavier weights so you can get an idea of the price jump.  (First class rates only go up to 64 ounces.)

I noticed that shipping larger packages to the UK is now a Priority Mail service...a 5 pound box costs over $52 to send!  There is no more international parcel post to many countries!

I have a friend who just retired from the US Post Office...we were talking about how really amazing it is for us to pay $.45 to get a letter to Hawaii...it is by sheer volume, but the volume has gone down, so prices have to go up.

I think the prices in the USA are still very very reasonable!  You couldn't drive it...Cheesy

Calluna! I live about an hour away from Solvang! They have the BEST Ableskivers (sp?) ever! So delicious and their candy store--especially the salt water taffy---if worth splurging on  Wink

I can't believe they're raising prices on postage! I thought it was ridiculous that one of my canadian friends said it was $45 to  send a 2x2x2 cm box to Africa. I guess I need to post all international stuff before the 27th now O__O Stupid politics >.>

Bummer about the increased postage.  Is there some way that we could do all the claiming and then have a later date for sending so that multiple sends to the same individuals could be combined and some postage could be saved?  Just a thought.

Busy crafting away here.  Lana has been taking orders for simple scarves for her friends.  I just finished Nyan cat and now I'm making an Army girl one (lt gr, dk gr, pink, repeat).  I also just finished a rainbow scarf for Lana.

Thanks for hunting that down, Avesthel!

1st class international (aka airmail) has had a 4-lb maximum weight limit for a few years now. Anything heavier than that has to go priority mail. The priority flat rate boxes are usually a terrible 'deal' unless you are shipping lead weights or something....  For a while, it was cheaper to send lightweight packages to Canada for swaps just because of skipping the DC fee.
