Happy holidays!  I got a hat block for felting and some pie-baking gadgets.  I have vacation until Jan 2, so I am trying to use up some of my fiber stash this week

My mom got me a little dremel!  So many new possibilities have opened up for me!  Plus some Hobby Lobby gift cards!  Woot!  And my husband got me another set of pottery classes!  Yay!

one of my dear, crafty friends just found out she is preggo! we immediately started talking baby blankets. lol.
i actually have yarn in my stash that i saved for her future babies. so exciting!
my mom bought me every knitting magazine on the rack by the looks of it. hope people want knitting mags next rd, cuz i have doubles of some of these ;-)

I might! I am really trying to learn to knit this year! So far I have knit and purl down ha ha, I just need to practice increases and decreases and how to read a pattern! I claimed enough yarn this last round to give me a nice start on practice projects for sure!

I have to make a baby blanket in the coming months, as well! Thankfully the woman who asked me to make it for her has no appreciation/need for something fancy, she just likes the idea of having something made for her.   Michaels has ALL yarn on sale this week, so I got enough to last me through 2013, probably (after getting a bunch at the thrift store, too)! --It isn't a lot, I'm just really slow in getting through the yarn I have. 

It was a non-crafty Christmas for me, but still really good and I'm giddily happy with my new job and starting a new year! I did get to visit a highly-regarded spinning and weaving store in the strange little town of Solvang last weekend, but they were closing as I was getting there and I was overwhelmed with all the fiber options so I didn't end up buying anything. Still, now I know where to go if I ever need to spoil a fellow spinner!

Happy New Year!

One bad thing upcoming for those in the US is a large increase in international shipping charges, especially for lightweight packages. On Jan 27 the prices for everything are increasing, and 1st class international for 1-2 oz packages is going from ~$3 to more than $6. This includes shipping to Canada. I'm having trouble finding the charts for shipping costs for heavier items.  It does look like DCNs will generally be included in the regular price for domestic items so an additional fee will no longer be charged.
