Great job on the thumbnail, Avesthel! I'm glad STS finally has an image Smiley

No one has claimed from my shop, so I'm not certain if I'm doing things wrong.

Don't worry! Not that many people are signed up and have opened their shops yet. Hopefully the swap will pick up a bit if some more people join and we start approaching the holidays.

I still have not made any stems for my velvet pumpkins, I am kind of hoping I will find a source of real stems. I did pull a stem off of an acorn squash (soon to be dinner), and am going to test it out if I can find some real glue.

Tomorrow I am planning to go to Hobby Lobby and will pick up some supplies, including glue. And next to the HL is a big liquor store, I want to try to make some liqueurs myself. Unfortunately, I don't think we are allowed to offer alcohol in swaps....I am going to try and make coffee liqueur first, the store-bought ones are too cloying. Maybe a cranberry liqueur if cranberries show up at the grocery soon.

Oh, and I have some felted vessels with lids that will be in my shop when they finish drying. The Jacob fleece is also still drying. Once we have heat, I can dry everything real quick just by setting it on the vents. The A/C will be turned off (finally!) on Monday, then it just depends how long it takes to get the heat turned on.

Thanks, PW!   Smiley

I love the velvet pumpkin!   What about making stems out of paper/glue (sort of like paper mache) or polymer clay and then faux painting them to look like stems?

I don't know how you make liqueurs, but is it possible to make a non-alcoholic kit (sort of like a cookie mix in a bag) or a syrup (not sure if that would ship well or not) for your shop and then tell the buyer how much/type to add of their own alcohol and other wet ingredients like fruit?

Eiseldora, I don't think you're doing anything wrong.   I would just try a variety of things or add some more supplies.  Sometimes supplies are what people are looking for at the moment.

Great advice Avesthel.  I love supplies! and handmade art too! And also remember that a good photo is worth a thousand words.

PW, can't wait to hear about your liqueur experiments.  I am also willing to be your guinea pig if you need to test them.  Smiley

re: stems, my skill is much higher at felting than with paper/glue/polyclay. Partially I am lazy, and partially the real ones just look good Smiley

Well, the only thing in the kit would be sugar.  Most liqueurs are just alcohol + sugar + flavor-ingredient + time. I might sacrifice some of my stash of frozen sour cherries for a batch....
