I have been wanting to make a "store-bought-looking" for a while now so I came up with a simple pleated bag design that I thought would lend itself nicely to adding hardware.  I also wanted a leather look, so I found this faux leather that was super easy to sew with.

While the bag is simple, it is the hardware and material that really give it that store-bought look.

I even took the time to add some detail on the interior pockets by adding leather accents.

I really had fun making this and I think I achieved my goal!  If you take the time you can pretty much take any bag pattern and give it that "professional" finish by adding hardware.

If you are interested, you can read more about this bag here: http://sewplicity.blogspot.com/2012/09/new-bag-design-and-fun-with-hardware.html

Thanks for looking!

That is a great bag and you did a beautiful job adding the hardware and sewing the tabs and strap.

Beautiful.  I would definitely look at that if it were in a store.  Now I want to make one.

This is great - so classic looking. It will never go out of style. I've never worked with faux leather but now I really want to try Smiley.

Hey!  Nice to "see" you.  Go for it!!!  It's quite easy to work with....but you may want a teflon foot to help move things along.
