Is there anywhere I can take quilting/sewing classes in ottawa where I won't be with a bunch of old ladies? and is there anywhere to buy actual designer quilting cottons (thinking lizzy house, anna maria horner, anthology, moda kind of thing)
I am moving from Toronto and will miss the workroom!

There are lots of shops in the Ottawa area but my two favorites are Quilty Pleasures and The Running Stitch. They tend to have the more modern stuff.

There is also two Guilds - Common Thread Quilt Guild (east end) and Ottawa Valley Quilt Guild (west end).

Hope that helps.  Welcome to the area!

QP will be way far away for me. Running Stitch and OVQG aren't so bad but the class selections are super cheesy (chickadee wall hanging, anyone?). I should probably stop hoping that I'm going to find a replacement for the workroom. Thanks! Good to know.
