Crochet Hook Case

So here is the thing... I was totally going to make my daughter something for this challenge since it is her first year of school. But turns out.. preschoolers really don't need anything for school! So I made myself a crochet hook case!

I received a nice one a few years ago in a swap, but my mom has that now. Then my hubby  bought me for Christmas one of the nice zip up pleather ones with all the individual slots for your hooks... When my daughter was 2, she ripped all the slots. Since then, my hooks have been traveling in a bag all willy nilly, getting lost constantly. I figured it was time to get them their own case!

I used this pattern, and then I sewed a back onto it with some fabric that has been kicking it in my stash for about 4 years!!




This is the first time I have attached fabric to crochet, and I think I still have a bit to learn about that!

Such a clever idea to crochet a crochet hook case.  Much simpler than fiddling about with making elastic loops all different sizes.  Putting this on my to-do list as my hooks are just in a bundle with a rubber band.

It was so simple. One reccomendation I have if using this particular pattern, is to use a stitch marker on both ends at the chain 2. I've only ever had to use stitch markers when working in the round before, but I kept losing the end with this particular pattern.

I like the idea of using crochet to wrangle your crochet hooks!  I also struggle with those elastic ones and sometimes the ones with pockets are so wide that the hooks fall out...love the bright happy color as well!

I know what you mean! I actually had a craft fail on Saturday trying to sew one with elastic loops, and couldn't get it figured out right!
