Moved from: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?board=78.0

Hi My name is Abby, and this is my first post! I've been searching and testing out different cowl patterns to sell at local craft fairs, and this is my latest one (ignore the end, I got excited and snapped some shots prior to weaving it in)

I found the pattern here http://www.favecrafts.com/Crochet-Hats-Scarves-Gloves/Crochet-Convertible-Cowl, and made the initial row way too big, by like 15 stitches, but I kinda like the XXL feel to it.

Here's my second attempt, which I love! <3 It fits perfectly and the black/natural mix gives it a houndstooth effect! Amazeballs. Sorry for the subtitles, these pics went into my blog post (http://deerabby.org/2012/09/09/houndstooth-gray-convertible-cowls-wpattern-crochet/).

AAaaaaaand my puppy Keiko being left out of the crocheting fun... <3

Do you guys have any other cowl patterns that you love? What do you think? =D
<3 thanks!
xo, abs

Love them!
The first one looks comfier & easier to pull over your head, is it?
...That is to ask; having made the two, which do you like more?
I have been wanting to start a project like this for a bit.
Now is the time to plan for winter, THX for inspiring me  Cheesy

Beth: Thanks! The colors I used was Red Heart Black Acrylic and Caron Off White Acrylic

Skaborsk: =D Good to know! I'll make more of them!

Magpie: The first one is much larger (initial chain was about 15 extra), with less rows (I ran out about 7 rows shy of the pattern), so it's much easier to toss on. Something I could toss in my purse for some extra warmth this fall/winter.

I like the second one more, only because I didn't make any of the silly mistakes I did with the first one(dumb stiching mistakes), and I was looking for a bulky hood.

Even though they are the same pattern, those little alterations made them completely different items. I love both, and will be making a bunch more now that I have the hang of it. And now that I know people like them, I'll use better yarn!

Thanks for the feedback guys! Sometimes you get so lost in a project it's hard to get some perspective! <3

It looks really cuddly!  I might make some for winter this year.  =)

How long did it take you to make one?

It takes anywhere from 2-4 hours, but I'm a multitasker, so it's hard for me to pin down an exact time.
