This dress needed a lot of help. It is a vintage Ms. Chaus dress from the 80's. I dyed it first in a yellow RIT bath, got rid of the collar, took in the shoulder seams about 6 inches on each side (it used to have shoulder pads so there was a lot of material), took the sleeves off, fixed the uneven bodice (someone had tried to do some funky alteration), resewed the buttons (they were all hanging by a thread), hemmed it and made a belt out of the extra material. All in all not bad for a dress I got for a $1!

Thanks for looking!  Smiley

Looks fresh and more stylish!

What a lovely job you did...great find--especially the pintucks in front!

The color you used makes it new and yet retains the vintage feel...love it!

Dyeing the dress yellow was brilliant! It looks amazing with the changes you made.

i think alwaysinmyroom has it nailed, that colour makes it so fresh. I'm always so envious of people who have the creativity to see what something could become. You made something frumpy and meh into something wearable that really pops and can become so many wonderful outfits (my brain is definitely putting together some cute fall looks with chunky knit tights, brown boots and a cardigan!).

Wonderful transformation! The color livens it up so much. Your dress makes me crave summer, it looks so light and airy.
