Stationery & Note Card Swap Round 2?

We've just finished up Round 1 of the Stationery & Note Card Swap, and hopefully, a new one will be starting in a few weeks.

Here's a bit of feedback from the first swap:

Next time we should figure out if there is a better way to create samples. I printed up sample Stationary and no one wanted it so I don't know what to do with my samples. I also had 2 cards printed from my samples that no one wanted, but I found uses for them.

Would it be easier if everyone posted a list of themes you'd like to make (for example, I might post "Trees, Flowers, Insects, Retro Patterns, Books")? Then, people could claim you for one of your themes and whether they wanted stationery or note cards. As a receiver, it would be more of a surprise to see what someone would make using the specific theme.

Or, maybe as part of the questionnaire, you could list themes you'd like to receive, and then your partners could make sets based on your themes?

What does everyone think?

Instead of making an entire set maybe we could make one card and one sheet of stationary

or sketch up a design in a photo editor

Making just a sample was an option in the first round, so I can try to make that more clear in this round.

I admit, I also got burned by making 2 sets of stationery that went unclaimed (I knew I was going to be busy later, so I wanted to make sets in advance) But, when I had to make additional sets of notecards (I made a 3rd set for a claim, then made a set for me... which I gave as an emergency gift, and then made another set to re-send because that 3rd swap set got devoured by the mail machines), I was able to use some of the stationery paper for the background papers on my note cards. And, any stationery that I have left will be added to my stationery pile!

You KNOW I'm in CraftADD

   I still like the idea of making a sample and posting it. I like being able to see exactly what I'm getting from people and being able to choose specifics rather than just "animals/recycled paper/green and brown." Besides, if we're swapping stationary and note cards ANYWAY, wouldn't the extras be useful to the maker? But I know that some people are pressed for time and whatnot so whatever way is better for people, I'm cool with it

So far, making a sample of your offering seems to be the way to go!

This time around, I might only make up note card sets in advance (I can always use extras as gifts) and just make a sample of the stationery. I'm starting to think about what I'd like to make...

I'm toying with the idea of making more "masculine" notecards. I have a book of old WWII Airplanes I found randomly in a thrift shop I thought my husband would like but it's literally falling off the binding. So I want to try and do something with them rather than just throw them away.
  But I know that WWII planes aren't exactly in high demand for these kinds of swaps so I'll make alternate samples as well

Actually, I'd love WWII planes! I never have enough "guy" cards... I could always add a "Happy Birthday" to one (or more) of them.

I've started to think about what I'd like to do for the next round... haven't decided on anything... yet...

I've been flopping back and forth between maps and sea horses. Both my mental images are for cards, I will figure out stationary later

I love maps! In fact, I have some precious "map-e-lope" stationery that is they type of stationery that folds itself into its own envelope, and it's made from old maps. I love it so much, I have never wanted to use it...
