Nearly finished with large needlepoint project, working on the black background now, on my last 1/4 lb. of Paternayan Persion 3-ply wool in color #220, their darkest "black."  Waverly has what they say is comparable, but I've heard it is a bit thicker.  I recently found Chatalbash by Costikyan announcing in May 2012 their replacement for Paternayan.  Theirs is New Zealand virgin wood, as is Paternayan's.  Has anyone had any experience with either Waverly or Paternayan or something other than those two.  I am really stuck!  I found a company in Australia that has the small skeins of Paternayan, at least them claim to (can't call them on the phone right now but plan to do that tomorrow, but I need $45 worth of them to add up to the 1/4 lb. I need.  If anyone tells me Waverly or Chatalbash is identical I will go with one of those.  Advice from anyone with first-hand or even second-hand experience with this problem will certainly be appreciated.  I live in a small town and will have to get it mail-order either way.
