i made this book in collaboration with matt cipov (http://livejournal.com/users/808080)
i covered carboard with this lovely orange marbled paper for the covers...
you can't really see that part in these photos, but just for your imagination.
then i took some library catalogue cards (i work at a library
& these are very easy to come by, as they are basically trash/notepaper to the library)
& found ones that i thought had interesting titles, and arranged them
to make a 'story' (i numbered them in the lower right hand corner with rubber stamps)
& then i cut 2"x2" cardstock to join the cards together, but left them unjoined
so matt could draw on them without impediment (joined by those little archival
double sided sticky squares placed on the backs of the cardstock).  i drew
on a few of the cards & glued some things to them, & then i sent the
book to matt for his additions.  this is the result.  he did most of the drawing/painting
on the cards; i mostly just made the book - i can draw a little, but mostly just doodle girls
with no arms, fish, and umbrellas.  my repoitoire in this direction is very limited.

& oh, matt rearranged the order of the cards, but both versions of the 'story' are still evident.

I totally love it. Accordian books are the best. I love that you did it as a collaboration, too! Great great job to you both!

those are really neat. they kind of remind me of those books... err griffin and sabine? i dont know if i spelled it correctly. i like how you kept the color scheme simple, it makes it stand out even more.

There's a lot of texture in it, and that's really cool. You guys should do more of these, they're really cool.

I really love this book! Last night I tried doing some index cards (for my index card box of crafty goodness) in this style and I'm pretty happy with them. I used a red and a blue marker, a red and a blue pen, a date stamper, glue, old Lotto playslips (for the red in them was rather great). Perhaps later I'll make a few more and add onto the ones I have. I have some old phone books I should make little envelopes with or maybe do decoupage.

This is amazing, and even better because it's a collaboration!  I may have to check at my local library tomorrow to see if I can get some of those cards!

I love using unusual papers to make art - and these are fabulous.

Faded background colours and contrasting but complementing drawings - a perfect combination! I love! Ph x
