Brief Description: (how it fits the requirements, pattern/techniques used, any fun tips, etc.)  I melded together four different fabrics into one pretty large quilt.  It covers the entire top and some of the sides of my queen sized bed!!  For the 'bears" block I was inspired by a quilt I had seen on Etsy and loved how the block framed the team fabric.  After trying for a while to come up with another block on my own without success I turned to my resources and found the "solids" block in the book Modern Blocks: 99 Quilt Blocks from Your Favorite Designers by Susanne Woods.  And I think it fits perfectly.  I had the most trouble when it came to finishing everything off.  I tried straight line quilting, and ripped it out... I tried meandering in white, and ripped it out... then I tried meandering in navy, and again ripped it out.  I finally settled on hand tying at the corners and center of each block, which I love because it leaves all the focus on the design.  It was defiantly a bear (pun intended) to get completed by my deadline; but I succeeded.  Hooray!!!

challenge: gemino

house badges

i created house patches for my childrens robes as they are to young to attend hogwarts just yet. i also added felt backs so they could be used for christmas ornaments. sorry no slytheins at our house! i actually created 2 for each house, and an additional set that went into my shoptheshop

Wow, congratulations on the finished OWLs guys!  I'm not sure if mine will be done by my self-imposed date of Dec. 1, although my parents are coming for a visit so they can help baby watch while I craft    That quilt is great, and I'm so impressed by the dyeing attempt!  The patches are cute too.

I just realised that the Christmas wreath I made is PERFECT for the Gemino challenge!

I made this using the tutorial here: http://www.eddieross.com/eddie_ross/2008/12/no-wire-hangers-well-maybe-just-one.html that's been pinned all over Pinterest, including by me.  It's at least 2/3 of a tube of 100 baubles, on a wire hanger.  I'm awfully proud of it, and it only took a couple hours (mostly because I'm finicky about colour and shape placement).

Brief Description: In order to rid myself of the confusion of spinning, I decided I would spin 12 ounces of wool. The charm has not completely worn off (there's a bit left around the wheel), but I feel fairly confident using a drop spindle now!

Project: Ironman Chair

I'd love to see a pixie go up against Ironman... and so I've made my Ironman chair to sit on while I study for DADA - I'm hoping having his face pushed up against my bum will be a source of inspiration(!)

err... about a weeks worth of evenings, I guess, but broken up by drying time. I spent a couple of evenings at work cutting out panels and sorting them into some piles of various sizes (to make it easier to find what I wanted once I had gluey fingers!), then an evening doing the legs/ bottom of seat - left it a couple of days sitting upside down on the floor, then another 2 evenings doing the seat and back, and just double checking that I was happy with the colour variation / placement of everything and that I hadn't missed any bits around the joints. left it to dry again, then varnished it (again in two parts - bottom then top - but it only takes an hour or so to varnish each half).
It does want another coat of varnish I think - but I couldn't resist getting some pictures today as the weather/light was actually pretty good which is a rarity in London in the winter!

@Abbee: Crafty Magic doesn't alway go as planned , but we always learn from the process.   I'm just happy no cauldron exploded, and you did get a bit of cloth to play with.

@Audania1: I adore muffs; they're so cozy! And your alterations clever.

@tiamatfire: Remember that if you are not done with your OWL by the end of the Fall Semester, it carries over to the Winter.   Gorgeous Wreath!!!  LOVE the colors!  (I would be all finicky too!)  And for the link!

@indigo_roses: HANDSPUN YARN!  LOVE!  What a wondrous spellwork!  Way to go on finishing your OWL and conquer that Confundus Spinning Spell.
