AWESOME planetarium!  I wish oatmeal came in containers like that up here!  Maybe I could do up a hot chocolate can, and save lids to do different constellations?  A little LED puck push-light would fit in there...

So I just finished something that wasn't even going to be an HPC project, but let me tell you, it definitely fits!

My daughter needs warm hats, as it's already fall here (though someone forgot to inform the weather) and it will be getting cold soon.  It's already cold at night and in the morning, if the afternoons are hot!  I made her the sheepish hat, but I wanted to make a few more so we have options.  I tried out a few things that failed miserably, when I decided to reproduce the pigtail hat I made for my little cousin 8 years ago.

BEHOLD, THE PIGTAIL HAT (AKA Cabbage Patch hat, as coined by my husband):

Class: Charms
House: Gryffindor
Project Name: Pigtail Hat, AKA Cabbage Patch

As soon as we pulled it on her head, we laughed out loud at how it looked!  Literally, ridiculously cute.  I put the picture up on facebook, and it got a crazy number of likes, and everyone thinks it's hilarious.  Definitely a cheering charm!

In fact, it got so many likes I'm wondering if I should write up the pattern to sell for a couple bucks on etsy.  It's dead simple, but there are an awful lot of dead simple patterns for sale, and I'd hate to deny anyone the chance to knit this crazy hat!  Definitely only for 2-3 bucks though.

Wow, this thread just explodes when you don't check it often.

I am totally loving all the shared recipes!!

@ patty-o-furniture: I totally love that pi bracelet! It's just the type of jewelry I like to wear, and I like how subtle it is in it's geekery. And... can I come live in your craft room?

@ ttarsia: I think that shawl is beautiful! I really need to knit more.

@ lightninglisa: I could not stop laughing at that image!! I think I may just have to use it for my pi assignment!

@ tiamatfire: I think you should totally sell the pattern!! You may consider it dead simple, but I am not a good enough knitter to figure out how to make something like that by looking at it! But I can follow a pattern well enough to make something that's more advanced. Even if only a few people buy it, that's still money you didn't have before. Smiley

@ the_essence:

AllyCatAria - wow what a good idea! I don't watch Firefly but it looks great! Where did you find the base?

Thanks! Actually, my mom (also a huge Firefly fan) had seen it while shopping. I had her grab it for me. I think it was either kmart or target? I'm not sure. But it was in the toy section.

Tia, I'm not sure what I love more.  The hat, your daughter's giant smile, or the TARDIS tee she's wearing!

Thanks guys!  I made the TARDIS onesie too - it's just a plain navy onesie with the TARDIS stencilled in white.

Congrats Abbeeroad on being the WotW Wink  It really is a great project!

Class: Flying
House: Gryffindor
Project Name: Blue Baby Converse
Brief Description: My niece has just had a baby boy and what better way to say congrats than knitting a pair of converse. I started with this pattern http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/baby-converse-shoes which I liked the look of but did not have the right size crochet hook in my collection so ended up doing this pattern instead http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/baby-converse-gestrickt

And I also wanted to say how amazing the crafts being posted are. I am surrounded by some very crafty witches and wizards  Grin
