I made a new tank top dress.  It is made from the same basic pattern as this dress http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=411311.msg4858152#msg4858152

I had a little bit of an issue with my serger for I ended up serging the seams and then sewing it with a straight stich over the inner edge of the serging.  I put a heart cutout on the back of the dress (as per my sister's request) the fabric was stiffer than the other I used, but It falls nicely.  I made the skirt portion on this an aline because I wanted a bit of flare on it.  I faced the heart cutout slightly and topstitched around the heart itself. It's a fun new dress.

Sorry about the photos being a little bleh, It's a little difficult to take good pictures of clothes with only a cell phone and a mirror (especially the back)

You did a fantastic job on that heart ! I am really impressed . I wish I could do a heart cut out that nice and neat and perfectly shaped ... Ive actually never tried to do one but I imagine it was pretty difficult . Is the fabric stretch ? or does it zip up the side ? ....

awesome dress Smiley great work

it's a knit fabric, so it stretches (although not as much as the fabric I used on the other dress) I didn't want to bother with putting a zipper in it. It's just stretchy enough to go over my head.

The heart cutout wasn't actually that hard.  I just made a heart shape and cut it out while the back piece was still on the fold and cut out the heart again on a scrap square of my fabric, then I stitched it to the back of the dress (scrap on top) wrong sides together, turned it and top stitched it.  It was the first time I've done a heart cut out, and I was torn between facing the heart and putting like a bias binding on it, and I just went with a facing because it was easier.
