Hello -
Here's my 2nd post with photos. I decided I needed a pin cushion. Somehow the marvelous cupcakes posted here made me think of making a pin cushion in the shape of something that one would expect to have pins and needles. Here it is:

complete with cat for scale. She got bored before I put any pins in it:

much more cute than the regular tomato, and more clever (needles-cactus)... did you just make it out of felt?

Smiley Thanks very much everyone!  Cheesy

Sham- I did sew it from felt. Six alternating light and dark green eye-shaped (pointy ellipses) pieces, with a vertical fold ironed on light green pieces. These were sewed together with a hole at the bottom. I folded the light green panels inward so that the dark green ones would seem more like ridges and sewed that in place. I filled it with stuffing to make a sort of football shaped cushion, and then hot-glued it to the tiny ceramic pot. Then cut the pink felt in a many-pointed star shape and sewed it to the top as a flower.

Emy- how could anyone not love cacti? Wink
Hoxierice - I also thought of other spiky things, like sea urchins (but that would end up looking like a funny-coloured tomato) and am considering making a hedgehog or porcupine.

That is so fantastically cute!  I love it, such a simple idea too.  I bet they'd sell well at craft fairs and such like, I'd certainly buy one!

hedgehog is a good idea I made a felt mouse..or had a pattern, three oval-ish shaped pieces I think enlarged it could make a good hedgehog.
