The kids were invited to the neighbor girl's birthday party which is today and guess what I realized we don't have for her yet? After pancakes (nom nom nom) I decided to make her a present. Using some satin, some Kona purple, and some reverse applique, here's what I got:

After I cut out the K I decided I should zigzag around it so the satin wouldn't fray. Love how it turned out.
But then I thought "that's not enough!" What will she need to complete this outfit? A scepter!

Maybe I should have stuffed it with polyfil but I'm lazy and just slipped it around a piece of PVC pipe. As long as she doesn't bring it over here and smack my kids around it with it it's not my problem, right?

SUPER cute!  so great to give a truly unique gift for a kid, and nothing beats costumes for boys and girls!
love the scepter too, especially that its made with a pvc pipe.  ok, so it might become a weapon at some point, but if it were stuffed with polyfil it might be um, a little, um, flaccid?  limp?  obscene?  ...heehee

No, obscene would be if the ribbons were coming out the top. Hee hee... I'm starting to picture a really fun way to turn this into a bachelorette party costume...

On a kid friendly note, this seemed to be the favorite gift of the party by her family. Everyone was really impressed that I made it myself. I was impressed that I pulled it all off without even having to leave the house for supplies! I didn't think I would be able to do the scepter but Hey! We have a garage full of crap that needs to leave this house, why not pass it off to the neighbors?
