I was reading up on applique quilting yesterday and a lot of them suggested monofilament thread. Is anyone for/against it? I want to make a quilt with this basic idea but I want it to be usable, not as a hanging. It'd be going to a friend so it'd most definitely end up machine washed and well used. Will monofilament hold up? The cat in the window isn't going to be black, she has siamese cats so I plan to make it look like hers.

Any ideas, suggestions? Thanks!

Cool quilt pattern! I don't know if it holds up, I've just heard it's a beast to use Sad

Then I shall be avoiding it then, I'm all about making my crafting life easier Tongue

I was just hoping to avoid using a bunch of different colored thread, but eh...I'm always up for a trip to Joann's Roll Eyes

Is there a type/weight/etc thread I should be using for machine quilting? I typically buy all-purpose stuff.
