It started with a notebook I got that had so many tiny randomly angled lines it was mesmerizing. Almost trippy. When I signed up for the hippie swap, I knew I wanted to use it.

I took out the spiral and flipped it upside down so it was now the inside. I had to cover the name of the brand, so I glued down more stripes, this time from scraps of the pattern I made on the front.

The front is tie dyed paper. It's the second time I've tried the technique. The first was bad enough that it was going to be my last attempt, except I love how it turned out and I now want to do it again.

do you actually dip the paper, or is the a fau tie dye with markers? how do you keep the paper from falling apart when it's wet? love the bright colors

Jenleahlynn- you ball up one piece of printer paper, then wrap another around it fruitbasket style, and put an elastic on the top. Then you colour it with sharpies, then spray it with alcohol. When it's damp you can CAREFULLY take the elastic off, then iron it so it dries flat(ter than it would). Tah dah! Tie dyed paper!
