I made a whole bunch of peg people for my nephew for this birthday this past weekend.  I ended making him 12 super heroes and 12 villains.

BUT I needed a box for my nephew to store them in.  I bought a set of paper mache boxes from JoAnn's and used the biggest box for his people.  A while ago I bought a grab bag of comic books for $5 for the soul purpose of crafting with them.  I had no idea what I was going to do with them, but they ended up being perfect for this project!  I started by painting the edges of the box with black acrylic paint.  I cut out panels that I liked out of the comic books with my papercutter and mod podged them onto the box.  Once everything was dried, I put a coat of mod podge over everything to seal it and make it semi waterproof.

I'm really happy with how it turned out!

Thanks for looking!

Perfect container for your colorful peg people!

You do know you cut up a $300 vintage comic book, right? Wink

Just kidding...whenever I find old books or pieces, I am petrified that I am going to cut up something valuable...usually NOT! ha ha

hehe, I think my husband was petrified of that too.  I started to pick them out at random at the comic book store from all the boxes and he was having a minor panic attack that they might be worth something.  I ended up putting those back and picked up a grab bag, which was guaranteed to just be extras of stuff that they had too much of.  There was like 3 batman/robin comics in there, and a few that I had never heard of.  So rest assured, I did not cut up a fortune!  ^_^  I think I'm over my cutting up stuff fear, since I cut up old books all the time.  lol!

Thanks racky!  He was very excited about them!  I was told that when he got home with them the following night he insisted that he pull out each (good guys on one side and bay guys on the other) and line them up next to him so they would defend him while he slept.
