Art Doll Swap - Send by 10/05

I have your stuff already to send & no stamps my husband usually gets them, but this time he didn't. So it will probably be Mon. when I send.  I found some books I have already had & it's about these Art Dolls, I'm so glad I found them. One is "Designing the Doll" by Susanna Oroyan, "Creative Cloth Doll Making" by Patti Medaris Culea & a 3rd one "Crafting Cloth Dolls" by Miriam Christensen Gourley. Some have patterns to use & it also shows how to make your own patterns & different ways to make them move with joints & a lot of other things. I think I'll be making more of these.

I know those three books and they're great. I highly recommend also a new one called "we make dolls", very fun.

I mailed out my surprise swap this morning so I'm ready to make a physical start today!

LOL, The only supplies I may have to get would be some fabric paint, but I may have that already too. I do have the messiest craft space, but can work on it tomorrow. "Susanab" I'll have to look that one up! These books are great!  I have use some things in them to make my Poppets & it really help! I'm glad I found them.

I am following but adapting a doll I saw in "Stuffed" magazine (from Somerset, if you don't know about it) and I think I can make the doll my own, or Ashley's, with a few signature things that I use/add to all the dolls I make.

On another note, I spent about 3 hours last night making little monsters from some of the decorator fabric I was gifted. I cut out and embellished the faces. Tomorrow I will sew and stuff and then you can all have a look.

I woke up yesterday super sick and I had to call in to work today. So no progress for me yet. I planned to send out my stuff yesterday too but couldn't. Hopefully this goes away real soon. I hate missing work and missing out on craft time!

gah i hope you feel better soon! i know what you mean--having to stay home from work but being too sick to do other things.

Well, even though I haven't started my doll.  I have started gathering.  I have an idea, though I've never done it before, and can't find a pattern I like....I think I may just be winging it.  I'm planning on tossing at least 3 of my partners themes into one doll.  It could end up pretty interesting if it all works out. 

Was at a loss for inspiration until I spent about 5 hours looking through pinterest.....lol

OOOOH! Now I'm all excited! I, too, spent quite a bit of time on pinterest and have your dolly all sketched out. Just a matter of getting more than twenty minutes to myself...you may not get your doll til Christmas
